Fuming Passenger Slams 'Incompetent Parents' Over Flight Delay Caused by Kid

Dealing with public disruptions can test anyone's patience. However, one traveler’s recent journey turned into a viral nightmare. Recently, an unhappy passenger took to Reddit to express dismay about how a 3-year-old child couldn't be made to sit in his seat. Consequently, the flight was delayed over an hour. "Just got off a flight in Sweden," the traveler wrote, adding "We were an hour late arriving because when the crew were preparing for take off a 3-year-old child couldn't be made to sit in his seat".

According to the traveler, the parents were forced to debark after much screaming from the child. The person wrote: "We then had to go through the whole thing of refueling, weights and balance, remove their bags etc". "I would seriously pay extra to go on adult only flights," the person added.

"It's a Friday night, we just want to get home," the passenger continued. "And this brat and his incompetent parents make us late, make people miss connections, cause delays for the airplane and crew etc."

According to the angry passenger, the flight attendant gave the kid's parents about ten minutes to get the kid to sit down, or they'd have to debark. "This was happening as we were taxing out to the runway," the passenger wrote, adding that the rest of the delay was getting back to the gate, getting them off, their bags off, and then refueling, checking weight and balance and getting a new flight slot. It would've been a much longer delay. But luckily, according to the passenger, they were at a very small airport.

Several Redditors said they've experienced similar situations.

"Had the same thing happen on a flight in the US a couple of weeks ago," a Reddit user said, adding "In my case it seems like the kid had some form of learning disability and was having a meltdown. That’s an impossible-to-control situation." However, the user said the flight attendants were great about the situation. and respectful of the struggling parent.

That said, they parent and the kid had to ultimately leave the flight. "It was tough for everyone, but especially tough for the parents and the kids siblings," the user continued. The person concluded their comment: "Nobody wants to fly, we just want to get from point A to point B, and sometimes kids just aren’t as able to suck it up as adults."
